FEBRUARY 2008 Newsletter
Introduction
Our good start to 2008 seems to be continuing with more and more people becoming members. I am now getting really excited about the summer series after a really positive committee meeting at the end of January with lots of new ideas. Its nice to have a few different faces who are all determined that Brookhead should be fantastic in 2008.
07/08 Brookhead Winter Indoor Jumping Championships
So far our winter season has been a success and we hope you are all enjoying it. We are glad to have been able to welcome back Debbie as our jump judge and thanks to our new winter office staff. The remaining date for this series is

Membership Renewal
Membership runs from 1 st November until the 31 st October. Please ensure you renew your membership if you are competing at the Winter Indoor Champs to make sure that your points count. I have enclosed a membership renewal form with this newsletter. Membership fees have increased this year due to rise in insurance costs however entry fees will remain the same.
Exciting News About the Championship Show
We can now confirm that our championship show in June will now be held over two days. Saturday will be showing and Sunday will be show jumping.
The rosettes and sashes will all still be there but we are going to be awarding an extra special highest placed member rosette in every class. We will also be running a members only championship. This championship has been added to ensure that our members reap the full benefits of the show.
We are hoping this show will be a qualifier for Ponies UK. I am also looking at it being a Veteran Horse Society, Coloured Horse & Pony Society and/or a British Skewbald & Piebald Society qualifier as there are not a lot in this area.
FOC Spring Festival
I'd like everyone from Brookhead to have as much fun as they did in 2007 and see a continuation of the fantastic team spirit and support that Brookhead are famous for. The first weekend is an open show where anyone can enter. Classes are £13 to Brookhead members. If you join the Festival Association your self this reduces your entry fees to £7 a class. You can still represent Brookhead and also be eligible for the highest placed FA member rosettes. A full list of classes are available on the website www.festivalofchampions.co.uk .

Brookhead Go Bowling
I'm sure everyone who went will agree we had a fab time. I really enjoyed it. Thanks to everyone for coming. Extra thanks to Charlotte for having her birthday and getting us champagne and to Ryan for getting a strike under the pressure of the DJ and winning us more champagne. We hope to organise more events like this.
Winter Indoor Jumping Presentation & Race Night
This will soon be upon us. Looks to be a really fun event as it was last year. It is open to all members – not just the show jumpers so get your tickets now and help us congratulate the winners of the classes. Tickets are £5 each and include supper and pudding. We are doing the racing again and asking all our members to sell the race cards before the event. Closing dates for the cards is the 6 th April (the first summer show). The cards will help us raise money for the club which we will then put back into the club.
Alton Towers
This never happened as it was all a bit of a rush and different members had different school holidays. We are definitely planning a trip to eith Alton Towers or Blackpool and this will be in the summer holidays.
Olympia
We are hoping to organise a trip to watch Olympia . This will be a bit more of an expensive trip and anyone wanting to put money away at each show will be able to do so through us. Tickets are not yet on sale. As soon as they are we will give you all a date and a price.

Rumours
Lastly I would just like to clear up a rumour and would like all our members to help. Brookhead is running in 2008. In fact we are hoping it will be our best ever. Please let everyone know this is the case and spread the word about Brookhead to stop these rumours in their tracks.

March 2008 Newsletter
Introduction
Our first summer points show is next month. I can't quite believe how quickly it has come around. Memberships are flowing in fast and all on the committee hope our members are looking forward to the 2008 summer season as much as we are. The schedule has gone to print and I have enclosed a class list so you can plan what classes you would like to do. Hopefully there should be less clashes than in previous years and the addition of the extra rings means bigger rings and more working in space.
07/08 Brookhead Winter Indoor Jumping Championships
Well its all over now and all that is left is the presentation night. This should be a really fun night with the return of the horse racing and also hot pot & apple pie. Tickets are selling fast and open to all members not just those competing in the show jumping so if you have not got yours yet I suggest you act now.

Race Cards
Please find enclosed a Race Card for the Winter Indoor Championship Presentation Race Night. We are asking all our members to sell as many of these cards as possible. What you need to do is take bets on the horses at £2.00 per horse and the person who has bet on the winning horse on the night for each card will win a prize. Once you have filled a card return them to any committee member. The last date for handing in these cards is the 6 th April (the first show of the summer).
Prizes include Bottles of Wine, Boxes of Chocolates, £5 Robinsons Vouchers, £5 Derby House Vouchers and Cuddly Toys. The person who sells the most cards in each race and overall will also receive a prize.

FOC Spring Festival
It is this month!!! Please come and support the club. Good Luck to everyone competing from everyone on the committee. We hope you all have a fantastic time and know you will do the club proud. If you are representing the club and don't want people to shout, for example if you have a nervous horse, then please let someone know – our supporters tend to be pretty loud.
If everyone could let me know what classes they are doing we can make sure there is someone there to watch you. On top of that if anyone needs a hand with turnout, if you forget something or need something give one of us a shout. If we can't help we probably know someone who can.

Mark Davies Injured Riders Fund Show Jumping
Once again we will be supporting MDIRF by holding the show jumping class in the lunch break. Unfortunately our September show clashes with the championship at Scope but we will not be running the September show as a double points show to give our members the option to compete without loosing double points.
Championship Show
You all should now know that the show is being held over two days 7 th & 8 Th of June and that we are holding the show at Aintree and that there are extra special rosettes for the highest placed members and a members only championship.
Social Events
Saturday 22 nd March – Festival Party
This is for the older ones! We will be travelling from Valiants to either Preston or Blackpool for a night out then back to Valiants to camp over ready for the Sunday. No formal planning required for this just let us know if you fancy coming. If we don't go into town we will be having fun at Valiants as we did last year anyway. For those that weren't there last year we played penalty shoot out, rounders , bop it, had a bbq and one night had a Chinese – that is a long story though.
